New A-10 pieces including the stately A-10 Thunderbolt II Lamp and Challenge Coin Display!

We have created several aircraft lamps, the SH-60, HH-60, OH-6A, A-36 Bonanza, MV-22 Osprey, UH-1 Huey, and they have turned out beautifully. We had several people suggest we create an A-10 Thunderbolt II Lamp but we were afraid we wouldn’t be able to do it justice. Well, we just completed it and we absolutely love how it turned out! We were able to get some good info on the munitions that are realistically represented on the undercarriage and used some actual scrap aircraft parts (A-10 gun parts) and spent 30mm ammo cases in the design. This is our largest and most detailed lamp and challenge coin display so far at 22 inches tall and 22 inches wide with the ability to hold up to 30 challenge coins on the base!

And since we were focused on the A-10, we added a new set of A-10 bookends and some new , very cool looking (and each unique!) A-10 Pen Holders. Check them out in our shop!

New pieces – Throttle Body Bank, Gas Pump Lamps!

Hello!! We took a little break over the holidays and then were busy working on design requests for a bit, but are now back to making a few new pieces for the site! We hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during this time.

Our new pieces include the Throttle Body Bank which is a unique take on the piggy bank and a Gas Pump Lamp (thin and thick body) which is based on the early 1900s style gas pump. All are made of glass cylinders and recycled metal parts and scrap. We hope you like them!

Scrap Metal Bar Top Table with Light-up, Bluetooth Speaker

Added the beautiful bar top table made up of several transmission pieces, flywheel, and various scrap metal pieces available for purchase in the shop. The glass top is approximately 29 3/4 inches in diameter and underneath, the hinged flywheel provides access to the removable wireless, light up, blue-tooth speaker (with charging cable, 8 hour use between charges). Check out this amazing table in our shop!

Ammo Insignia Challenge Coin Display and Lamp added to the Gallery

A service member who liked the EOD bomb display requested a slight tweak to the design to be less EOD and more representative of the munitions systems specialist or Ammo career field. We removed the lightning bolts and added the shell and flame insignia to the front while keeping the rotating base for a challenge coin display. It turned out great; see it in our gallery!

Autism Awareness Hitch Cover added to Our Gallery

Some of the best, most meaningful pieces we create come from design requests. This one ranks among the top of our creations. We received a request to design an autism awareness hitch cover using the puzzle piece symbolism and the words “Different, not less.” After much discussion and thought, we decided it would look best to have the letters clearly visible through use of a CNC machine. We were able to incorporate the puzzle pieces via the shape of the metal and by painting interlocking pieces which really brought life to it. A very meaningful piece and we are happy we were able to meet the family’s expectations for this! Check it out in our gallery.

Added the Excavator and the “Victorian’s Mate” Lamp!

We have added The Excavator which is a beautiful scrap metal art interpretation of a large piece of heavy machinery. While displaying our items for purchase at the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Base Exchange, a service member asked if had any scrap metal heavy equipment. We didn’t! So this was an instant challenge to create this piece.

When we made The “Victorian” lamp, we liked it so much we knew we wanted to make it a set. After a few scrap runs, we found the pieces that would make it a good mate. Thus, the “Victorian’s Mate” was created! This one took a little more thought to piece together due to the three aluminum pieces. We created a three bolt structure at the core to bolt and slide the aluminum to which allowed us to weld the remaining pieces and create one solid and very strong lamp.

Added Two New Lamps

This week we added two new lamps after selling our executive lamps this month. We love making the lamps.. it’s a fun and creative team effort to figure out what pieces look best for a certain look we are trying to achieve. The first lamp we added is called the “Area 51” because it looks out of this world with the aluminum fan clutch and thermostats. The other lamp is the “Rustic Chandelier” which is made of pieces of old, rusty metal we collected from the side of railroad tracks in Gila Bend, AZ and a wash in Ajo, AZ.

When we are out driving or walking and finding scraps of metal, we don’t really know what we’ll use it for but we collect it just in case. And when we go back and start poking around and pulling pieces out of a box, an idea hits and the process of which pieces and how to weld or connect them begins. We really enjoy making these unique lamps and hope you like them as well – let us know your feedback anytime by sharing a comment!
